We shot a beautiful wedding of an Italian couple in Bagnoregio, Lazio recently and we were so pleased to discover this lovely town and area. We flew to Rome and it was great to escape the crowds. We spent ages wandering around the village, taking photos, sometimes only with our phones. Our favourite ritual in Italy is to have cappuccinos (very often followed by a slice of pizza) and we found just the perfect spot in this town to pass most of our morning. Excuse the photo of me posing, when we found this turquoise door we couldn’t resist. 🙂
If you ever visit Bagnoregio then you cannot miss Civita, a very old village on top of a crumbling hill that is now only accessible by foot through a bridge. It was a bit of a hike to get there but so worth it, you don’t often come across villages these days with no cars around. The old square was beautiful, we sat there and just enjoyed watching sunset through old buildings. On our way back to Rome we discovered another hidden gem, a town called Bolsena by the lake Bolsena. We were so excited that we could go for a swim to cool down! That day we left our big cameras behind so all following photos were taken with our phones.
And how could we not include few from our afternoon in Rome… We only spend one day there on the way to the wedding and yes we do realise that’s soo not enough in this great city. We stayed in Trastevere neighbourhood and the little we did see we absolutely loved so we’ll definitely have to return one day. Italy will never cease to surprise us, this has been our fourth trip there and we love it more and more each time.
What a stunning place! It looks too beautiful for words.
